About Me

Since I was six years old, I have loved writing. Of course as a first grader writing in my Pocahontas journal, I was not writing timeless, nor coherent, works of art. But writing has always been a way for me to make sense of my kind of "quirky" life. As a child I moved quite a bit as my parents searched for their version of the American dream. With my surroundings changing from city life to suburbs to down south, I found great comfort in writing about all of my new experiences.

Based on my deep love of writing and the countless number of journals in my closet, I decided I would become an English major and put that hobby to good use. Studying English literature and creative writing for three out of my four years of undergraduate study was one of the best experiences of my life. From it, I became a stronger writer and realized no matter what I become or what I do with my life, I will always be writing.

However, because writing doesn't tend to pay the bills, I decided to teach English as a Second Language (my great second love). That means I get to work with some of the most interesting and cultured children in the US and teach empower them. In exchange for them teaching me about their unique life stories, I help them become bilingual students who can express themselves with confidence. It may not sound too glamorous or important, but I like to believe that I'm making a small difference... and I like that! :)

So, with all that being said, HERE IS MY BLOG!

Other than writing, my many hobbies include:

Spending time with my handsome medical student
Baking
Cooking (and eating)
Home decorating
Seeing my family (especially my niece)
Trips to Homegoods and Target
Singing anything and everything very loudly
Dancing to anything and everything
All things sparkly and/or pink
Watching Breakfast at Tiffany's or Sabrina countless times
Reading (mostly non-fiction creative writing aka memoirs, essays, and, obviously, blogs!)
Teaching
Laughing really hard
Sleeping in
Drinking tea (and red wine)
Cozy pants and socks

...I might as well stop here because the list will start to become all things related to feeling cozy and sleeping.
